Habits…Part 2. Last week I wrote about incorporating habits into my world to help me be a more fit person. This week, I’m going to write about the habits that I really, really need to work on, my eating habits.
Here’s the scoop…on the days that I’m practicing (seeing patients, completing treatments, basically “in the mouth” which I LOOOOVE soooo much) I keep my patients at the very top of my priority list. Eating (and hydrating) goes to the wayside. And I know that’s not good. I’m a doctor. I don’t take the time to nourish or hydrate my body. And that’s the habit that I’m TRYING to add to my life.
I’m keeping up with my exercise habit. On Tuesdays & Thursdays I train at home with a trainer. Oh man, I feel myself getting stronger already and it’s only been 3 weeks! Oh, and did I mention I also train on Saturdays as well? I’m thinking I might have abs by spring break! 🙂
So back to food…My trainer suggested that I eat a paleo diet. I’m already a pescatarian. (Not sure what that is? I don’t eat meat, but I do eat fish!) He thought it would be great if I could stay away from grains, dairy, and soy. It sure limits what a pescatarian can eat! I know I need to incorporate meals and snacks- it’s so hard to do.
I found a local shop that prepares paleo-meals-to-go called KitchFix . It’s a good solution for me for a few reasons. One is that they deliver (you just have to plan ahead, it’s not like a quick pizza delivery service) and two is that they have a storefront location on the Gold Coast that has a wide variety of foods and they can even make some smoothies if you’d like!
I’m not 100% sure I’m sticking with a purely paleo diet, but I can tell you, I’m trying to make sure I eat as clean as possible. I would LOVE your recipes, if you care to share them!
Wish me luck with my habits…I’ll keep you posted on how it’s going!
